Episode 22: Jordan Martin
I talk with Jordan Martin, who is currently raising money for his new film REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT.
In this episode, we talk about his upcoming film, why Jordan joined the Air Force, learning the military's rules so thoroughly you know enough to break them and his subsequent award as the Department of Defense Communicator of the Year for 2021, how he became a filmmaker and what it’s like to work as one in Oklahoma, and his recommendations for aspiring filmmakers. If they are anything like Jordan Martin, the future is extraordinarily bright and creative.
We discuss suicide in this episode. Know there are resources available to you, and if you’re struggling, it’s okay to share your feelings. 988 is available 24 hours a day.
We also use military acronyms in this episode. MEPS is the military entry processing station, an evaluation center before you ship out to basic training in whatever branch you’re joining. I remember the rate of braggadocio at MEPS from the soon to be military members was inversely related to how soon they were attending basic training. And if it’s your day to leave, MEPS is the last part of the civilian world outside of the airport you are going to get for awhile.
DINFOS is the Defense Information School, located at Fort Meade in the Washington, DC suburbs. If you’re listening to a military spokesperson or looking at a photo or video produced by the military, there’s a high likelihood that person attended DINFOS.
