Episode 46 Jake Fallon & Nick Craven

I wrap up season 1 with Jake Fallon & Nick Craven, the filmmakers behind CRYING ON COMMAND.

In this episode, we talk about...

  • how the duo got involved in filmmaking;

  • whether you can start out just making films or if you can start high-minded;

  • the reasons behind the success of their Seed & Spark campaign(s);

  • the watershed (see what I did there) short v. feature debate;

  • Brett Kavanaugh (you have to listen);

  • the run time of Martin Scorsese' latest film (again...makes sense after you hear);

  • the importance of improv in indie film;

  • and the depths of their new film, which packs a lot into nine minutes.

As you can see (or hear) from their indie film highlights, these two are ingrained into the independent film community and spend a good part of the episode supporting other peoples' projects. These are the kind of people I want to find for the show.

By the standards of the podcast, which is typically laser focused on the subject matter at hand, we veer a little off-road for maybe a few minutes longer. But it’s the last episode of the year – thanks for indulging me and being here for the ride. It was cool to spend it with Jake and Nick.

Happy New Year. You can find the clickable links available on the podcast's website, firstgopod.com.

This podcast is executive produced by my wife, Elizabeth Duchek. The current construct of my life -- and obviously this show -- wouldn't be possible without her and our anniversary is on 12/31. Happy five years, Liz.

Always double text (but anything more probably is indeed creepy.) Trust me.
